“Mr. Saturday Night” Bounces Back

Following two dismal performances in LCC matches this past Monday and Thursday, Tom Carmony bounced back Saturday with an important match victory over Brian S. Johnston III. The win was the second consecutive Saturday night win for Carmony.

After the victory, Carmony was asked about what it meant in light of his previous two performances. “This win was huge,” he said. “Not only did I manage to get a big win after those last, difficult matches, but I won by coming from behind, as well as having to deal with Brian’s chicanery.”

Carmony won the match with a pair of exemplary shots. The first nailed a difficult wicket, shooting down a thirty degree incline, from roughly fifteen feet. Following that, he went on to hit a tough double wicket-stake series to seal the win, leaving Johnston slackjawed.

“I can’t believe that this one slipped away from me,” cried Johnston. “The same thing that happened to me tonight is what happened earlier to Tom, but you don’t hear me whining about it like him.”

The match Saturday night was the first of the season to feature only two LCC competitors. It was rumored that a third, Mike Corvin, was scheduled to appear, but in fact ended up no-showing. As a result, Johnston and Carmony were left to duel with one another.

Carmony was also questioned about the significance of the victory coming on a Saturday night, as did his previous win lask week. “There just might be something to that,” he claimed. “Two weekends, two wins… I think I should be called ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ from here on out. Of course, the one key thing to remember is that of all the matches we have this summer, the big daddy, the Champions Cup, is on a Saturday Night. So who better to win it than ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ himself?”
