Gepner Snatches Win from Carmony in Wild Finish in the Pond at Poison 2
MARYSVILLE, WA - More than five years since the inaugural edition of the Lakewood Croquet Club’s poison-rules event, aptly titled Poison, a second edition of the unique competition was held as a lead-in to Champions Cup X, set for the following week. Defending Cup winner and LCC Champion Brian S. Johnston III welcomed competitors to his home in Marysville and served, along with his wife Kristina, as hosts for the event. After inebriating most of the competition with an array of exceedingly stiff drinks (from mint juleps to whiskey sours) and no less than three barbecues (gas, charcoal and a smoker!) worth of ribs and other massive amounts of meat, Johnston welcomed challengers to the unique world of poison croquet.
